NOMINATION CRITERIA FOR
THE 5 STAR SPORTS
ATLANTA FLAG FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME
The nomination process is a vital part of the Hall of Fame. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure your submission is complete and follows all guidelines so your nominee can be properly considered
NOMINATIONS: Any person affiliated with flag football in the metro Atlanta area may nominate any individual, living or deceased, active or inactive to be considered for induction into the Atlanta Flag Football Hall of Fame. Individuals may be nominated in one of three categories: Player, Coach, or Contributor. The information provided for the nominee must relate directly to the category for which they are being nominated.
For example, if the individual is nominated in the coach category, information on his or her playing career, at any level, is not needed and will not be used for consideration for induction into the AFFHOF. By the same token, the nomination of a player should focus solely on his or her accomplishments achieved while they were an active player.
ELIGIBILITY: Individuals nominated for selection to the Atlanta Flag Football Hall of Fame must have a long or significant association with flag football and/or have resided in the Metro Atlanta or otherwise have made an outstanding contribution to the game of flag football to reflect great credit and recognition upon the Atlanta area. Nominees can be currently active in the flag football community and still be eligible for induction.
Player: In addition to the above criteria, Inductees are evaluated for their exceptional skill, success, and accomplishments playing in the Atlanta area flag football leagues and events. This would include achievements like being named an MVP, winning league & tournament championships, and earning individual awards. A player being placed in the nomination pool must meet the following minimum criteria:
1. Must have achieved distinguished recognition at the highest level in his or her playing career, with consideration given to integrity, sportsmanship, and character.
2. Must have participated in flag football in the Atlanta area for a minimum of six (6)consecutive years.
3. Must not have been banned or permanently suspended from participation in a league; if currently active, must be in good standing with their league.
Coach: In addition to the above criteria, a coach being placed in nomination must have:
1. Compiled an outstanding reputation of coaching, won multiple league and/or tournament championships
2. Compiled an extraordinary winning record or have achieved other outstanding accomplishments as a coach, with consideration given to integrity, leadership, sportsmanship, and character
3. Must have coached for a minimum of six (6) consecutive years at any point
Contributor: In addition to the above criteria, a contributor being placed in nomination must have:
- Served the flag community with special distinction in areas including, but not limited to, league ownership, commissioner, media, and officiating.
- Has made a significant impact in the flag football community in the Atlanta area
- Served within the flag community in its best interests in an outstanding manner for a minimum of five years, with consideration given to integrity, sportsmanship, and character.
Legacy Nomination: A legacy nomination is made exclusively by a member of the selection committee. This nomination must be made during the selection committee's initial meeting to review the first round of nominations. A person nominated as a legacy candidate can fall into any of the 3 categories (Player, Coach, or Contributor). A legacy nominee will automatically be advanced to the semi-final round and then will be evaluated as all other candidates.
SELECTION: All nominees go through a screening process to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. The Atlanta Flag Football Selection Committee will select the final candidates to send to the Hall of Fame President for Final Approval of Induction into the 5 Star Sports Atlanta Flag Football Hall of Fame.
Nominations must be submitted via the Official Atlanta Flag Football Hall of Fame nomination form provided. Nominations must be submitted by the set nomination deadline. A nominator can include any other relevant information to be considered by the selection committee, such as letters of reference, statistical highlights of the nominee’s career, and/or other information that, in the opinion of the nominator, demonstrates that the nominee deserves to be inducted into the Atlanta Flag Football Hall of Fame. However, under no circumstances shall such accompanying information exceed four (4) pages. Any nomination that contains more than four (4) pages of additional information shall not be accepted by the committee and shall be rejected.
All nomination forms will stay on file for a period of two (2) years from the time they are first received. If the nominee has not been selected for induction during that time frame, the individual must be re-nominated for further consideration.
